Title Update 4 Post update talk/news
I hope everyone is enjoying the recent update, I sure know I am going to enjoy fixing all the new bugs this update adds. I have somethings to discuss however.
Known issues
HTML version not working
I am well aware of the fact that the html version is currently not working, as it can't be a major tiny pixel planet update if it doesn't break when exported to html. This time I actually know the cause of why it is not working, and that is because the file size is to large. I think certain gui elements in tiny pixel planets has cause the file size to be larger than necessary (most likely fonts). Either way I plan to fix this (if possible) in Title Update 4.1
The GUI text looks weird/ is cut off
This seems to be a problem with Godot 3, and I only now noticed because I have been adding a lot more gui elements in the game recently. But if you take a lot back in the Git repo, it has been a problem since the beginning and is not new. I have tried a lot of fixes for this before releasing TU4, but nothing seems to work. On my newest game, Island Builder, being made in Godot 4, this text issue does not appear. The game uses the same exact font files as Tiny Pixel Planets, so that leads me to believe that this is a Godot 3 problem.
Future plans
The biggest thing I will be focusing on for Tiny Pixel Planets now is porting it to Godot 4 and cleaning up the code/ resources. If you have viewed the Git repo, you probably can tell that the code, and resources is kind of all over the place right now. I feel I should fix this if I want to continue working on this game, otherwise it could hinder my ability to add new features. Also I want to port it to Godot 4 because after working on Island Builder, I learned that while it may have it's quirks, overall Godot 4 is better than Godot 3.
Funnily enough I already tried porting Tiny Pixel Planets to Godot 4 back when I begun working on Title Update 3, but I really was not familiar with all the changes, and Godot 4 was just released at that point.
As for the features I have planned for Title Update 5? Not a clue. Honestly Title Update 4 was going to be the last update to Tiny Pixel Planets so I can focus completely on Island Builder. But now it seems people are starting to see my game and are enjoying it, so it seems like there will be a Title Update 5 after all. Feel free to suggest features in the comments of Tiny Pixel Planets, most likely I will add them as I want this game to be community driven. If you want to contribute to the development of Tiny Pixel Planets, or make it your own, make sure you check out the Git repo. I also will be finishing the wiki on the github repo as well. When I am finished (enough) with the wiki I will link it in the main tiny pixel planets page.
Anyways that is about all I wanted to announce. I hope you guys are enjoying the newest update and are excited to see what is to come!
